Language Support for Schools

The DfES National Language Strategy: Languages for All sets out a target for all primary schools to provide every child from Key Stage 2 onwards with the opportunity to learn a foreign language by the year 2010.

At Loquela Language Centre we recognise the enormous value in providing our children with the opportunity to learn a second language and experience the wonders of foreign cultures. But we also understand the limitations and pressures faced by teachers and head teachers to meet this challenge successfully. This is why we have developed a range of services to help bring the joy of languages to local primary schools.

PPA and Extended School Languages

Loquela's job is to make it easy for Primary schools to introduce languages into the curriculum. We can provide language teachers and teaching assistants dedicated to the provision of K2 Modern Foreign Language lessons that can be conveniently slotted into teachers' PPA time.
Loquela takes care of everything from training the language teachers to lesson planning and the development of materials and resources leaving Teachers to manage their PPA time more effectively and allowing Head Teachers to concentrate on other projects.

One way that some Primary Schools have found to ease languages into the curriculum is to begin by offering an optional Extended School provision. Loquela After-school Language Clubs provide a fun informal introduction to language and culture learning after formal lessons.

Language and Cultural Awareness Workshops

Through workshops and presentations, Loquela can help your school raise awareness of the importance and joy of languages among pupils, teachers and parents. Please ask about our stand-alone language and culture taster lessons and workshops.

Language Training for Teachers

Many Primary Teachers have at least some experience of a foreign language but lack the confidence to teach languages at school. We believe that these teachers are of potentially enormous value to your school’s language teaching resources. Loquela can help them develop their language skills and confidence to a level suitable for teaching languages at Key Stage 2, ultimately saving your schools the enormous costs of outsourcing.
